The table has been set and the harvest is in. Discover the truth behind America’s first Thanksgiving celebration and explore how this iconic holiday has changed over the past 395 years.

Create a turkey call, try your hand at cursive with a feather quill pen, and enjoy games that pilgrim children would have engaged in. Enjoy a nature scavenger hunt with your family designed to help you find all the fixings for the big meal.

Fee: $5 per person or $15 per family. Appropriate for families with children of all ages. Call 542-2909 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  by Nov 15 for more information and paid reservations.

Support our Kilgour Community - Donate a Thanksgiving Meal!

As we look forward to sharing a bountiful Thanksgiving feast with our friends and family, there are some families in our Kilgour community that could use a helping hand.

The Kilgour PTA Outreach is looking for families to help provide Thanksgiving Meals for a Kilgour family by purchasing the food for a meal (frozen turkey, veggies, sides…) or a gift card to the grocery store (please include a gift card receipt). All items must be delivered to the Kilgour main office no later than Monday, November 21 by 9:15 am.

Due to minimal refrigerator space, please limit cold items other than turkey. Suggested sides are: stuffing mix, boxed mashed potatoes, canned corn, canned yams, pumpkin pie filling, canned cranberry sauce - or whatever sounds yummy to you!

This effort could easily be shared by 2 or more families. A $35-$50 gift card should cover most families, and we can combine cards as needed. (Note: Most families are 4-6 people). Please RSVP your participation, so we can be sure that we have all the families covered.

If you have questions or want to RSVP: Andrea Lukin, Veronica Tollefson, or Stephanie Simon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Thank you for your Kilgour generosity!

Holiday Staff Gift Fund

We are also continuing the tradition of the Kilgour staff Holiday Gift Fund this year, in which we ask each Kilgour family to make a monetary contribution to the Gift Fund, in lieu of purchasing individual gifts. A flyer will be coming home before Thanksgiving with more information and contribution envelope attached. Issue 44 Passes Overwhelmingly

This ballot issue was vital for Cincinnati Public Schools to continue and accelerate the improvements we've been seeing district-wide in both our students' education and it's infrastructure. Just as important, it authorized expanded preschool that will enable vastly more Kindergartners to arrive for their first day school-ready.

The citizens of Cincinnati made a staggering show of support for the city's children by passing the ballot measure 62 percent to 38 percent against. According to CPS Superintendent Mary Ronan, it's been over 60 years since a school levy won by such a large margin. Thank you so much to all of the teachers and parents who volunteered their time to help the levy pass, thank you so much to all the people who voted in favor, but most of all congratulations to the students of Cincinnati's schools.

2016 Outside Classroom Creation!

Come see the progress we've made on Kilgour's Outside Classroom. Over the past week volunteers have been clearing underbrush and dead wood, collecting litter and sprucing up the existing structures of the area in preparation for the next steps of laying fresh gravel, siting new meeting places, and setting up garden beds.

The wooded ravine behind the school is a tremendous resource for our students and teachers, but the space had fallen into disrepair in recent years. The Financial Advisory Board recently researched this project based on responses to our parent and teacher surveys, and the PTA on Nov. 2, approved an initial grant towards revitalizing this space.

But the physical work of tidying the area and installing new equipment is only the most visible aspect of the project. Volunteers and teachers are also devising policies and curricula, as well as assembling learning tool kits to supplement the lessons nature provides. Additionally, ongoing funding sources are being pursued to maintain and develop the Outside Classroom beyond the initial Kilgour PTA grant.

This is a project we're very excited about. The Outside Classroom provides a great opportunity to tie in the benefits children gain from being outdoors with a number of the educational priorities communicated by students, parents and, teachers.

Thank you to all the individuals and families who have so far helped make this vision a reality! We'll be scheduling more work dates in the near future so if you'd like to participate in those or contribute in any other way please contact Bryan Hamilton at This email address is being protected from spambots.
