First PTA Meeting of the Year
Are you interested in learning more about Kilgour and the various activities and happenings that take place in your school community? Do you want to join with other parents in working to keep Kilgour a top-notch public school? If you answered yes to either of these questions, the PTA invites you to join us for our first PTA meeting of the year at 7:00 p.m. on September 3rd in the Kilgour library. (If we have a large number of attendees, the meeting will be moved to the cafeteria), Snacks will be provided. Remaining PTA meetings will take place on the First Wednesday of each month @ 7pm. Please note that the Room Parent Meeting will take place before the PTA Meeting at 6pm in the library. No RSVPs necessary - just show up! If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Crawford or Andrea Lukin, PTA Presidents at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Hope to see you there!

Yearbooks Have Arrived!
The 2013/14 Yearbooks are now available for sale at $16 each and include 76 color pages full of pictures of Kilgour students and teachers. We also have original artwork by eight Kilgour students - including the incredibly creative inner and outer cover artwork by our own Ally Standley. Ally's artwork captures the diversity at Kiglour that makes our school so exceptional. Orders can be placed today on the PTA website and the yearbook will be sent home with your child within 1-2 weeks. We've ordered 350 yearbooks and they're selling fast. Order your yearbook now before they run out.

Yearbook Pictures
The yearbook staff would love to have your class party and field trip pictures (including COSI, Halloween, etc). Please note that we cannot accept pictures taken with a smart phone (they're low resolution and don't print well). Please remember to send these pictures right away to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you have more than 2-3 pictures, please load them on a thumb drive with your child's name, grade and homeroom teacher, place in the PTA mailbox, and we'll return the thumb drive to you as soon as possible. Tips for taking great yearbook photos: 1) groups of four or more children are preferred, 2) have children face the camera, and 3) move in as close as possible to the children (less dead space in the photos means greater clarity when enlarging). For large groups such as the entire class, please keep the children (and teacher) in a tight group (rectangular is best) so we can enlarge the photo as much as possible in the yearbook.

COSI on Wheels: The Incredible Human Machine
The Columbus Center of Science and Industry will be visiting Kilgour on September 16 and 17. All of our children will have the opportunity to learn about "The Incredible Human Machine" during an engaging presentation and fun, interactive stations. Volunteers are needed to assist at the stations: all materials are provided and no scientific knowledge is necessary! Morning or afternoon shifts on both days are needed. Breakfast and lunch are provided to all of our fantastic volunteers. If you would like more information and/or want to sign up, please contact Carly Wise or Tita Propst at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

FB-f-Logo blue 50 Kilgour School PTA Facebook Page
We are excited to inform you that the PTA created our very own "Kilgour School PTA" Facebook page to extend our communication efforts for the new school year!!! The intent of the Kilgour PTA page is to inform the Kilgour parents and community of upcoming PTA events throughout the school year and direct everyone to more detailed information on our website. Instead of the page serving as an open forum, we are asking everyone to use it as an information stream and continue to contact the PTA via email. It will not contain pictures or videos of Kilgour students or their whereabouts (e.g. field trips). We are still in the process of figuring out how this will work and how we will manage it, so please be patient with us in the upcoming weeks. We are certainly happy to discuss the page in greater detail and are open to suggestions and questions. Please contact Deborah Mills at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

In the meantime, get out there and "Like" the Kilgour School PTA page! Please spread the word and share it with your friends so the parents and community are informed of our upcoming events ASAP.

BOXTOPS for Education 2014/15box top logo
We hope you have been collecting BOXTOPS over the summer months! If not, there is still plenty of time this school year to help earn cash for Kilgour by shopping and clipping BOXTOPS. Last year we earned over $1700 for the PTA to supplement activities for your children. Let's keep that momentum flowing into this school year! Please clip boxtops, put in groups of 50 and turn into your child's classroom teacher. Classrooms win prizes throughout the year for collecting the most within 3 month intervals.
