A Note from the Principal
Our students continue to show their "star performance," especially on upcoming state and district wide assessments. Students in 2nd grade are participating in the Terra Nova testing this week and our 3rd-6th graders will be "Rocking the Test" May 7-9 on the state tests known as OAAs. Please help keep our "star performers" on the right track by maintaining a positive attitude, making sure they receive adequate sleep and a good breakfast daily! Remember breakfast is FREE for our CPS students!

Kilgour Needs YOU to help with making our annual school 5K and Carnival a success! From donating an item to having your company or business or a group of your buddies sponsor a booth or port-a-potty to volunteering to help with the event for an hour or more....WE  NEED YOU!!!! Our school has a reputation for excellence in all that we do and we do not want this year to be an exception! SO PLEASE, SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! Kilgour Faculty and Staff Retirement Party

Girls on the Run Bake Sale
Kilgour's Girls on the Run team has been busy all winter and spring training for their May 10 5K. In addition to race training, the girls have been planning a community impact project, and have chosen to support the Save the Animals Foundation. Help them raise funds by purchasing items at their bake sale after school on Thursday, May 1 in front of the school.

Kilgour raffle tickets and money will be collected on the following days:

Raffle Shops
Want to boost your student's raffle sales? Then sign up to sell tickets in front of the Hyde Park Ace on Saturday, May 3 and Saturday, May 10. One-hour shifts are available from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Shifts are available on a first come, first serve basis, and students can sign up for as many shifts as they would like.

Kilgour Restaurant Nights
In addition to our monthly Papa John's nights, we will have restaurant fundraisers at Noodles & Company on Tuesday, May 6 and Orange Leaf on Saturday, May 24. Be sure to bring in the fliers so the profits to go to Kilgour!

Kilgour 5K and Carnival – YOUR Help is Needed
A successful fundraiser like the Kilgour Carnival can only happen with the help of each and every member of the Kilgour Community. The money we will raise on May 17 will help the PTA support its many programs that help make OUR school one with an excellent reputation.There are many volunteer opportunities available:

Canopy Tents

Carnival Set Up
We need volunteers to help with set up on Friday, May 16 from 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Stop in the front office to check in and grab a visitors badge, and join us in the gym or on the playground. We will be organizing booth materials, supervising the booth construction and set up, and prepping the site for Saturday’s carnival. Kilgour 5K
The Kilgour 5K will take place on Friday, May 16. Help on the course, with the kids fun run or serve food after the race.

Classroom, Face Painting and Raffle Basket Carnival Booths
Each classroom has its own booth with a fun game to earn prize tickets. To sign up for your classroom booth, or to help with face painting, raffle basket sales or other tasks as needed, sign up via the Qlubb website:

  • Go to www.qlubb.com
  • Sign in to an existing club – club name: enter kilgour
  • Enter your email address
  • Enter kilgour for the password
  • If this is your first visit to the site, a box will come up saying introduce yourself to Kilgour – type your first and last name in the box

Redemption Booth

Help reward the big prize ticket winners at the redemption booth. This is a great spot for both Kilgour adults and for high school students to earn volunteer hours for graduation or scouts. Kilgour Carnival Basket Raffle
The infamous baskets are back with some old favorites and some new themes! Please donate items to your child's classroom themed baskets. There will be 11 different basket themes this year! For your classroom's theme, please see the flier that was sent home with your student.

You are welcome to "join forces" with other families if you'd like to donate a larger item or gift certificate for one the baskets. We are also happy to accept cash to shop for you! Please give any cash and/or gift certificates to your child's teacher and place any donated items in the labeled bins outside each of the classrooms. All items are due by Monday, May 5!

We will assemble items into some fabulous baskets that will be raffled off at carnival. Basket assembly will take place on Thursday, May 8 at the home of Barb Culbertson. Please be sure to RSVP to Barb.

All of these basket creations will be available for you to win at the carnival. Chances to win one of the baskets will be available the day of the carnival for $1/one ticket or $5/six tickets. A special presale day will take place the week of carnival after school!

Kilgour Carnival Great Gatherings
Don't forget to look for the Great Gatherings sign-up area at the Kilgour Carnival.  We are planning a girls' night out, pool party and more!  The ticket sale station will be located with the class raffle baskets.  Please visit the Great Gatherings page on the Kilgour PTA website for the most up-to-date information.
